I studied electrical and computer engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where my thesis applied deep neural networks to a hard signal processing problem. Since 2022 I have been a Java and Spring backend developer at a signal intelligence and reconnaissance software company in Limassol, on a team of four engineers building and maintaining production services. Outside work is where I range widest: I co-founded Planula, a live SaaS platform for appointment-based businesses that I still build and operate, and over the past two years I have designed, built, and shipped a steady stream of products of my own, from a group-travel platform and a club-management app to real-time monitoring and analytics tools for the Cyprus market. Whatever I ship, I own every layer of it: backend, frontend, mobile, and the infrastructure it runs on.

    Limassol, Cyprus

    Java Software Developer · RS LTD

    • Backend engineering in Java and Spring for signal intelligence and reconnaissance software: a four-engineer team owning more than ten production services in a large, long-lived codebase.
    • Design features from requirements through to production in concurrent, multithreaded, and reactive (Project Reactor) services that exchange Protobuf-encoded messages, including REST APIs built to handle over 10,000 signals per second.
    • The services run on Linux and interface with real hardware and live signal sources, with networking work down at the TCP/UDP socket level.
    • Responsible for the performance and uptime of the team's services: profiling and JVM tuning down to GC behavior and heap dumps, load testing against throughput targets, metrics and monitoring, and root-cause analysis of production issues.
    • Module owner who has led features end to end, and a go-to for onboarding newer engineers; day to day includes continuous code review, sprint estimation and planning, and close collaboration with other teams.
    • Maintain the team's Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and the technical documentation other engineers rely on, with testing that runs from JUnit and Mockito suites to Gauge acceptance tests.

Homelab

“aether”: an old laptop turned always-on server, managed entirely as code.

A single 11th-gen Core i7 laptop (4 cores, 32 GB RAM, NVMe SSD) running Fedora. The whole machine is described by one Ansible playbook, run against the host itself. Every role is tagged and idempotent, so the same playbook takes it from a bare install to fully configured and can be re-run safely at any time. Services run as rootless Podman containers managed through Quadlet and systemd units: eleven of them right now, covering photo management, an e-book library, DNS-level ad and tracker blocking, file management, and build-and-deploy tooling for apps of my own. The box also runs a local language model, a 3B-parameter Qwen, which keeps LLM experiments entirely on my own hardware. Caddy sits in front as a reverse proxy, everything lives on a private network, and nothing is directly exposed to the internet. Secrets stay in an Ansible vault, and the host is hardened down to key-only SSH.
